Perth - Part 2

More picturessss. Mostly panoramas/ stitched.

^Panorama view of Intercontinental Hotel's entrance+lobby

^Stood in the middle of the road... Doesn't look like panorama at all.

^Round house, Fremantle. It used to be a gaol. 2nd favourite photo of the album. I like the wide angle lens look. XD

^On Rottnest Island... This cute, furry animal is called Quokka. Looks like a large rat. That's why early explorers named the island Rottnest - means Rat's nest.

^Salmon Bay, where me and my mum swam.

^Some pier some where.

^Some bay some where.

^The Basin. The water isn't as clear as Salmon Bay... Probably 'cause it's nearer to the town.

^The Basin take 2. They found a Dugite snake on the rocks near where me and my mum swam. =/

^On the way back to Perth...

Perth - Part 1

So I went to Perth on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year 2011 to join my parents who is there for a dinner and meeting...

After having an incredibly expensive sandwich lunch in the airport, I boarded the flight to Perth. No in-flight entertainment as it was only a 4 hour flight. The flight was suprisingly smooth despite being on a smaller aircraft and Perth was forecasted to be windy that day. =p

Anyways, I caught up with my parents and dumped my bag into the room, walk around the hotel, casino, etc. and tidy up for dinner and had dinner, and went back to the room and sleep. That's about it for Day 1 actually. So... only 2 pictures.

^Dinner time. Dress code: Formal-ish.

^Looking from one end of the corridor in the hotel

On the second day, we decided to walk about the city a little, visiting the world's largest musical instrument - the Swan Bell tower located right beside the Swan river. Then, we took the free, yes, free CAT bus and headed to Corica pastries to check the opening times. If you haven't know yet... Corica pastries at 106 Aberdeen Street, Northbridge makes my absolutely FAVOURITE and OMG SO DELICIOUS, WONDERFUL, FANTASTIC, DROOL-WORTHY apple strudels. Did I emphasize it enough? XD Too bad it wasn't open that day - Sunday. Remember, do NOT go to Perth if you only had ONE day and it's SAD-SAD-NO-STRUDELS-SUNDAY. Lol.

^Walking about Perth CBD. I had no idea what this building is about.

^Not open... not open... but the strudels are so awesome, I am smiling just because I'm near where it's sold. XD

After that, we headed down South-west towards Fremantle, a small seaside town by train. Initially I thought there was a free shuttle from Perth to Fremantle. But soon after we reached there I realised that the free shuttle is only in Fremantle. Oh well. Anyways, we walked around Fremantle, visited the E-shed markets, the Round House, the main market and settled for lunch in Cicerello's. It is apparently famous for its Fish & Chips but I found that it's Tasting plate was tastier and more worth the money. And after that, we headed back to Perth and relaxed and had some fun in the casino. =D

^Fremantle E-shed market. Some glittery mannequin.

^Outside Cicerello's! S.O.Y. lol.

^Near Fremantle pier...

^My attempt at street photography... Much more to be learned.

^Roof top of Perth train station. Love the lighting

^Perth skyline view from hotel room across the Swan river... Notice the hint of rainbow? It's not from the glass window.

On the next day, my dad had a meeting so me and my mum went to the nearby Rottnest Island for some sightseeing. It's basically an ecotourism island where visitors can cycle around the island, pick their favourite patch of beach and laze around all day or swim and snorkel around the island with its waters teaming with life. So, me and my mum took the ferry to the island and set off about the island on bicycle (Yeay!). There were so many beautiful bays that my photographs cannot do it justice. Also, swimming in the shallow seas was a rewarding experience with its clear water (at Salmon Bay) and fishes swimming about underneath. After cycling, swimming and cycling again, we had a quick lunch/tea time and headed back to Perth.

^Mum cycling and waving towards me! XD

^Just lie in the water and relax... (And get sunburned eventually)

^Salmon Bay! The water is deceptively cold despite the warm weather.

^One of my favourite shot in the entire album.

^Pelican on the lamp post by the pier. It's huge!

^On the way back to Perth...

^City of Perth

All in all, this is probably the most wordy post on my blog for the past year/ half-year. Lol.

All in all, the Perth trip was fun and entertaining and definitely an interesting break to my almost monotonous summer life. Thanks to mum and dad who invited me to join them and my uncle, aunty and cousins who were very warm to me as well. =D
Thus ends the wordy part of the Perth trip blog entry. =D

P.S. A big THANK YOU to my dad's colleague who bought the strudels for me and my parents.

^My shaky hands is the evidence of excitement. XD

^Remember this logo. Next time you visit Perth, it is MANDATORY to buy ONE (or two) apple strudels for me.

^Om nom nom nom nom nom nom nom

Lighting

One of the sleepless summer nights I've been trying out lighting with the standing lamp.
This is the only photo that I'm truly satisfied with:

Don't worry, my feet is clean!

Birthday haul (Sort of)
